Overview
Pinglo is a lost-and-found app operated by Ask For Task. We collect data users choose to submit to operate lost-and-found recovery, account access, item reports, claim verification, chat, safety, support and account deletion features.
Public feed posts are designed to use structured item details and generated illustrations instead of real public photos. Private proof photos, if available, are optional and only used after a claim or verification step.
Data We Collect
- Account data: name, email, user ID, preferred language, sign-in provider, profile settings and account status.
- Authentication data: Apple, Google or email sign-in identifiers needed to create and secure your account.
- Lost-and-found reports: item type, category, title, description, colour, material, brand/style, size, approximate area, time window, reward settings and distinctive details users choose to submit.
- Private verification details: secret details, unique marks, claim answers and optional proof information used to help confirm a match.
- Shared feed posts: public lost/found posts and their non-private item details so other users can discover possible matches.
- Claim and chat data: claim status, participant user IDs, messages, system messages, return confirmations, reports and block actions.
- Approximate location information: text areas or optional coordinates users choose to add to help locate lost/found items.
- Safety and support data: reports, moderation notes, support messages and diagnostic information needed to investigate abuse or resolve user requests.
Backend and Synced Storage
Pinglo may sync account records, public feed posts, claims, chats, reports, rewards, moderation events and account deletion requests with backend services such as Supabase. This allows users to sign in across devices, view shared posts, communicate with matched users, and keep safety records consistent.
Some app data is stored locally on your device for performance and offline convenience. Synced data may also be stored on Pinglo backend systems so the service can operate for both parties in a claim or chat.
How We Use Data
- To create and manage user accounts.
- To publish lost/found posts that users choose to submit.
- To support matching, verification, chat and safe handoff workflows.
- To provide rewards, account history and product reliability.
- To detect abuse, respond to reports, moderate content and protect users.
- To respond to support, privacy and deletion requests.
No Tracking or Sale of Data
Pinglo does not sell personal data, does not use third-party advertising tracking, and does not track users across other companies' apps or websites. Data is used to provide account access, item recovery, verification, safety and support features.
Private Proof Photos
Public posts do not include real photos. After a claim is initiated and verified, matched users may optionally share a private proof photo visible only to matched users and moderators if required for safety. Proof photos are deleted automatically 30 days after an item is marked returned where this feature is active. Chat text, claim records and system safety logs may be retained for safety, dispute handling, abuse prevention and product quality.
Retention
We keep data only as long as needed to provide Pinglo, maintain safety, handle disputes, comply with legal obligations and improve reliability. Public reports, claim records, chats and moderation records may remain while an account or related recovery flow is active. Some safety, support and legal records may be retained after deletion where necessary to prevent abuse, resolve disputes or meet legal requirements.
Account Deletion and Local Data
In-app deletion is available from Settings → Delete account and local data. Local deletion removes data stored on your device, such as local account state, cached posts, chats, saved items, reports and rewards.
If your account uses synced Apple, Google or email sign-in, Pinglo also sends a verified backend deletion request where backend services are available. Backend deletion can remove or de-identify account records and personal data connected to your user ID, but may not immediately remove content already shared with other users, moderation records, dispute records, legal records, or public posts that must be retained temporarily for safety or service integrity.
If you need help deleting an account or synced data, contact admin@askfortask.co.uk or support@pingloapp.com.
Safety and Moderation
Users can report content and block users in chat. Safety reports, public posts, claim records and chat messages may be reviewed to investigate abuse, fraud, harassment, prohibited content, stolen item concerns or policy violations.
